This policy covers the Westminster Shorter Catechism App by J.D. Partridge, including the Android app and the web app at jdpartridge.com/westminster_shorter_pwa/, and this app’s information website.
Study information stays on your device
The app saves reading progress, completed weeks, quiz history, bookmarks, highlights, personal notes, and appearance preferences in local app or browser storage. These study records are not sent to the developer or synchronized to an account or cloud service by the app.
There is no account registration, advertising, or in-app analytics service. The app does not ask you to provide a name, email address, or payment details to read or use its study features.
Offline reading and network access
The Android app includes the catechism, commentaries, Bible passages, and reading files on the device. The web app downloads its files when you first open it and when you install updates. After the offline download is complete, the books and Scripture can be read without an internet connection.
Opening an external website, store listing, support-payment page, or email link uses the relevant external app or browser. Those services receive information associated with that request; they do not receive your saved study notes from this app.
Website hosting
When you visit the information website or use the web app online, the hosting provider may process standard request information such as your IP address, browser information, requested address, and request time for delivery, security, and operation of the website. This is separate from your personal study records, which remain in local storage.
The information website does not use advertising trackers or analytics scripts. The web app uses local storage and a browser cache for its features and offline files, rather than tracking you across websites.
Backups, imports, and deletion
You can export your study information to a JSON backup and import a backup through the app’s About page. Exporting or importing a file is an action you choose. The Android app uses the system file picker; the developer does not receive a copy.
A backup may contain your personal notes and other study records. Keep it somewhere you trust. If you choose a cloud drive, email, or another service to store or share the file, that service handles the copy under its own policies.
To remove locally saved information, clear the Android app’s storage or uninstall it; for the web app, clear this site’s browser storage. Delete exported backup files separately wherever you saved them. Clearing local storage removes saved progress and notes from that installation.
Optional support payments
The app is free. If you choose to support its development, an optional link opens a payment page operated by Stripe. Stripe may collect the payment, billing, contact, and technical information needed to process your contribution. Payment-card details are handled by Stripe, not stored in the catechism app. The developer may receive transaction and contact information provided through Stripe’s payment service.
Payment processing is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy. Contributing is not required to use the study features.
Contacting the developer
If you send an email, the developer receives your email address and the information you include so that your question can be answered. Avoid sending private study notes unless you intend to share them.
For privacy questions, contact john.d.partridge2@gmail.com.
Children and families
The app can be used for family and catechism study. It has no user accounts or social features and does not ask children to submit personal information. An adult should supervise any optional payment, external link, or sharing of a backup.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s data practices change, this page will be updated with a new date. The current policy is available from the app and this website.
